“Khnong Phsar”: An Attractive Mountain Forest Tourism Site on the
Border of Kampong Speu and Koh Kong
Located on the border between Kampong Speu and Koh Kong provinces, “Khnong
Phsar” is a vast mountainous forest area with breathtaking natural scenery
hidden deep in the wild. According to the Kampong Speu Provincial Department of
Tourism, Khnong Phsar is a highly attractive destination due to its beautiful
landscapes.
Khnong Phsar is an adventure tourism site where visitors must hike on foot. The area is rich in dense forests, tall mountain ranges, and vast green plains. It is abundant with nature, featuring numerous mountains and forests, and is especially known for its stunning sunset views.
Traveling to Khnong Phsar is convenient, and
combined with its picturesque scenery, it has become a favorite destination for
many tourists. The area holds great potential for nature tourism. In the
morning, visitors can enjoy watching the sunrise in a cool climate, while in
the evening, they can witness the sunset from the mountain ridge.
The flow of tourists has positively impacted the local community, improving
the livelihoods of the residents. The Kampong Speu Provincial Department of
Tourism stated: “He takes visitors to Khnong Phsar and earns income from
guiding them. He no longer cuts down trees and instead has come to love the
forest.”
The Cardamom Mountain National Park Office
recently reported an increase in tourists visiting Khnong Phsar. They also
provided a geographical explanation of the area: “Khnong Phsar is located on
the border between Kampong Speu and Koh Kong provinces, not exactly at a
tri-junction point. At night, when tourists rest, they are within Koh Kong’s
territory, while in the morning, when they watch the sunrise, they are in
Kampong Speu.”
According to the Cardamom Mountain National Park Office, the popularity of Khnong Phsar on social media has been driven by tourists posting photos of its stunning natural beauty. The influx of visitors has provided job opportunities for local residents, to the point where guides are sometimes in short supply due to high tourist demand.
With the growing number of visitors to Khnong
Phsar, the Ministry of Tourism is encouraging the development of
community-based tourism and promoting it as an adventure tourism destination.
At the same time, the head of Kampong Speu’s tourism department is calling on
tourists to help protect the environment and properly dispose of their waste.
