• History of TK Music Source: Seila Kampuchea Tuesday, 03 July 2020 7:30 AM Khmer called Take, similar to Thai called Chak Ke or Tak Khe means crocodile. The word Take also means crocodile, because this Take device looks like a crocodile in the past, but now Take has a normal crocodile shape. In our Cambodian society today, some are called takhe, some are called takhe. This instrument plays an important role in the mahogany orchestra, the ayai orchestra, the modern orchestra, and the soloist. In the mahogany orchestra, large takeas with heavy tones are often used to perform, but in the Ayai and modern orchestras, they are usually slightly smaller with a slightly more harmonious tone. Take has a fast rhythmic movement, making the tone narrower than other instruments. Nowadays, in Cambodia, we make jackfruit wood, which is a kind of wood that gives a better tone than other woods. Our ancestors divided the whole body into three parts: head, torso and abdomen. At the head, there are three lumps, mostly made of hard wood, with one dog poop (a lump on the crocodile's nose, anciently called a dog poop) for decoration. There is a ground (beam) placed after the wind is the highest digit to support the wire beyond the other digits. Under the head there is a foot for support. On the body are 12 digits made of solid wood

or elephant bones. On each digit, there is a solid bamboo bone or back cover on top to prevent the digestion of the digit. These 12 digits list between each one according to their tonal level. On the abdomen, there is a box made of wood or copper called kranh (King Kok). Below the abdomen, there are four or two legs to support the body. There are three tones: - The first string is called the single string, which has the smallest tone. In the past, they used silk to fold together, now they use nylon resin instead. The second string, called the C string, is also made of silk, but now nylon strings are used. The third string is called a chord, which has a large tone, made of metal strings used only for chords. Trigger nails are round, elongated, and the side of the trigger is made of solid wood or ivory, with a center cord plugged around the trigger. During each concert, the most common strings are used to list the lyrics, while the strings and chords are rarely used. Every musician uses only three fingers to press the strings, while the thumb and forefinger are usually left blank. (Research compiled by Mr. Hun Sarin, Professor of Music Arts)
